Gudi Padwa is the Marathi New Year day celebrated in the first day of Chaitra month. Marathi people celebrate the day in grand manner. In l Maharashtrian households, we can see the Gudhi being hanged near the windows. In a long bamboo stick, a bright colored yellow or green colored cloth is tied along with the gaathi, which means sugar crystals, neem leaves and a twig of mango leaves. Gudhi is significantly tied to show the Lord Rama’s victory after slaying Ravana. It is believed to ward off evil and bring good luck.
