Yugadi is also called as Ugadi. It is celebrated as the new year by the Telugu and Kannada speaking people. It is celebrated on different days as per the Hindu calender date. The festival is also named as Chadramana Ugadi or Chandramana Varsha Thodaku or Vatsara Arambha. The day starts with the oil bath, rangoli kolams and preparation of special dish called Ugadi Pachadi.
