Onam is a Hindu festival celebrated on a large scale in the state of Kerala. It is celebrated for four long days for commemorating the Vamana avatara of Vishnu. Different kind of cultural events are conducted such as Vallam Kali, Pulikali, Pookkalam etc., Keralite celebrates this day by making Onam sadya (feast), where 26 types of dishes were made and served in the plantain leaves.
